Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Conversation Designer to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping the future of multimodal conversational experiences across our platforms. The ideal candidate would have experience designing for probabilistic systems and a strong background in conversation design, user experience design, and a good understanding of natural language technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create intuitive, engaging, and effective conversational experiences. You will work remotely and report into a Design Leader on the DXC team.

We are open to remote candidates based in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities

Design Conversational Experiences

  • Conceptualize, design, and iterate on high-quality end-to-end conversational experiences
  • Develop natural dialog flows, user flows, components, and frameworks that clearly outline the conversational architecture
  • Create conversational prototypes to validate ideas and communicate concepts
  • Document experiential requirements, guardrails, and test cases, as well as processes and methodologies
  • Ensure interactions are intuitive, engaging, and aligned with business objectives and technical capabilities
  • Test for consistency and contextual coherence across the conversational experience
  • Analyze conversational data to identify gaps and propose conversational solutions

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, UX designers, and content strategists to define and implement conversational design strategies
  • Gather and synthesize requirements, constraints, and feedback from diverse stakeholders to inform design decisions

Research and User Testing

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate experience concepts and refine conversational interfaces
  • Analyze user interactions and feedback to continuously improve the conversational experience

Innovation and Best Practices

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in conversation AI design, natural language processing, and user experience
  • Advocate for and implement innovative design solutions that enhance the user experience and meet business goals
  • Champion trust and transparency best practices in your everyday work

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a conversational designer or similar role in customer facing conversation design
  • 2-3 years using AI to design experiences for users
  • Demonstrated experience creating prototypes, customer flows, problem definition, and analysis
  • Ability to utilize and contribute to evolving digital standards and guidelines
  • Recognition of emerging technologies in the AI space including LLMs and Machine Learning
  • Ability to work independently and on teams to solve complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of best practices and nuance required for global communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of design best practices, including WCAG 2.1 Accessibility, Layout, and Form
  • Involvement in working on conversation AI chat- and voice-based experiences.
  • Familiarity with extended reality technologies
  • Experience working in agile development environments

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $106,500 and $183,700. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
