Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled API Developer to join our Enterprise Data and Platform enablement organization. As a Principal API Developer, you will be responsible for leading a team of developers in all aspects of the API development lifecycle, from designing, developing, and maintaining robust high-performance APIs that power our software applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and ensure seamless integration of APIs with various systems and platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience in API development, a strong understanding of RESTful principles, and a passion for building innovative solutions that drive business success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of API developers in all phases of the API development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define API specifications.


  • Work with other technical leaders in translating business to technical strategy


  • Architect API solutions that adhere to industry best practices and standards for security, performance, and reliability.


  • Design and oversee service API performance and reliability strategy, implementing proactive measures to address any issues or bottlenecks.


  • Optimizing performance and scalability through efficient coding practices and infrastructure enhancements.


  • Integrating APIs with external systems, third-party services, and internal applications to enable seamless data exchange.


  • Assist in troubleshooting and debugging API-related issues to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.


  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.


  • Defining coding standards, best practices, and guidelines for API development within the team.


  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to quality standards and coding conventions.


  • Collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to prioritize tasks and deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects.


  • Implementing continuous integration and deployment pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.


  • Staying updated on emerging technologies and trends in API development to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.


  • Participating in Agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.


  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer, with a focus on back-end development.


  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Node.js, and familiarity with API frameworks like RESTful and GraphQL.


  • Solid understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth and JWT.


  • Strong understanding of web services, microservices architecture, and API design principles.


  • Experience with API management platforms and tools such as Swagger, Postman, or Apigee.


  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Jasmine, MochaJS, Cypress, or Postman for API testing.


  • Experience implementing continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline.


  • Knowledge of databases, including MongoDB (NoSQL) and MySQL.


  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based architectures.


  • Strong grasp of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.


  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.


  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.


  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.


  • Demonstrated ability technical lead and mentor

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $141,400 and $228,800. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
