Position Overview

Autodesk AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our development team and develop products for its world-wide customers. As a member of the Power Processing team, you'll improve productivity and outcomes across the construction lifecycle. Our customers are building some of the most challenging construction projects in the world. They need our help to get more done, in less time, with less risk.

If you are a software developer who is proficient in web-based technologies, have design and coding skills, passionate about problem solving, with experience building and operating SaaS system with large user base, we would love to hear from you! You will report into the Manager of Software Engineering. This position is remote in Canada (British Columbia).

Responsibilities

  • You will architect solutions that enhance the customers experience
  • You will be involved with all aspects of software development, working to create the most reliable, secure, performant, and high throughput services for our customers by using cloud technologies
  • You will collaborate with software architects, UX designers, product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to iteratively transform high-level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to consumers incrementally
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production services
  • Enable other feature teams to build upon our foundational solutions
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of our applications by identifying bottlenecks and bugs and creating solutions to these problems
  • You will be a role model regarding code quality, organization, and automation
  • You will write and maintain code, perform peer code reviews, and drive technical design discussions
  • You have experience deciding when to use architectural, integration and software design patterns

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Master's/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Expert level programmer in Python(or similar framework)
  • Experience with React is considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
  • Strong practical experience building RESTful web services and microservices with asynchronous workloads and heterogeneous clients
  • Hands-on experience with relational database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL)
  • Good understanding of cloud service providers and features they offer (we use AWS)
  • Experience managing and monitoring high-traffic services in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the development of large-scale software
  • Experience in distributed cloud and high concurrency design
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and DevOps
  • Experience with OCR pipelines or related deep learning techniques in object detection, classification, etc.
  • Experience with a variety of database technologies
  • Hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services and Kubernetes
  • Interest in mentoring and technical leadership - in this role, you'll help drive the technical direction of important aspects of our products
  • Passionate about open-source technologies
  • Have domain knowledge of the construction industry (or other areas of AEC) and a strong user-centered approach to one's work

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,500 and $180,840. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
