Position Overview

Autodesk is looking for a and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Licensing Entitlements & Access team. The engineer will collaborate with engineering teams to own, innovate, and construct a highly efficient, reliable, and scalable next-generation Access platform that powers the Autodesk Customer Access Journey for both Cloud and Desktop Autodesk products.

You will play a critical part in Autodesk's top-line business transformation, catering to new product and platform onboarding goals. As an important interaction touchpoint for customers when they try, buy, subscribe to, or access any of our software products, this platform has a direct and effect on millions of our users. Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level software designs and implement high reliability, performant, scalable, high volume cloud applications, platform components and microservices for enabling and delivering Access Capabilities
  • Collaborate with software architects, Product managers, Engineering managers, peer engineers, and UX designers and provide experience and contribute hands on in research, software design, test automation, monitoring, continuous integration and delivery and in implementing improvements to platform technology solutions
  • Work with partner teams to develop solutions at a corporate program level to provide technical perspective, to influence future direction
  • Provide leadership for project delivery including organizing scope, providing effort estimates, establishing timelines, breaking down and assigning tasks
  • Promote and drive sound engineering design, development and quality practices
  • Provide troubleshooting and support to developers, customers, and technical support
  • Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices through development

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of progressive, professional experience in software development/engineering
  • Broad knowledge of AWS, server programming, databases, and cloud architectures
  • Experience with Microservices, API architecture, and developing optimized, multi-threaded, and scalable server applications
  • Strong core Java and SpringBoot skills
  • Hands-on experience with unit, integration, and system testing tools such as Junit, Wiremock, Cucumber, or similar
  • Experience working with container frameworks (Docker) and container orchestration tools (AWS ECS, Kubernetes)
  • Technology stack: Java/Spring, AWS/Containers/Lambdas/Kinesis/DynamoDB, Go, Python, Jenkins, GitHub and Artifactory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge about Policy Based Access architecture and policy agents like Open Policy Agent (OPA)
  • Experience with software licensing, and entitlements technologies
  • Self-directed, accountable and demonstrates end-to-end ownership
  • Team-oriented, Agile/Scrum experience, with strong communication skills

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $141,400 and $228,800. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
