Fusion CI/CD/Test System is a critical and sophisticated engineering infrastructure and pipeline for Fusion 360 build, development, testing, and delivery. It is built and runs on modern cloud computing technology.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Backend Developer with expertise in test automation architecture to join our newly established service test automation team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in designing and developing scalable backend systems, as well as tools and technologies for test automation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality and productivity improvements and foster a strong culture of testing excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other developers and stakeholders to define system architecture and requirements
  • Design and implement a scalable and maintainable test automation framework for Fusion backend services
  • Provide technical direction on the use of tools and technologies for test automation
  • Mentor and train other developers, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in backend development and recommend new technologies and approaches to improve our systems
  • Ensure the quality of the backend codebase through code reviews, automated testing, and other quality control measures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 5 years of experience in backend system development
  • Strong proficiency in modern backend frameworks, such as Java and Spring
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and implementing test automation frameworks
  • In-depth knowledge of mocking and stubbing techniques and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of API testing, performance testing, and scripting/programming languages commonly used for test automation (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Ruby)
  • Proficiency in at least one relational database system (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and understanding of database architecture, design principles, and normalization
  • Knowledge of SQL language and experience in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers
  • Knowledge of various DBMS technologies such as MongoDB, Redis, InfluxDB, etc., and how to optimize their performance
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, etc., and how to deploy and manage applications on them

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with caching mechanisms like Redis, Varnish, Memcached, etc., to improve scalability and efficiency
  • Experience in front-end development

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,500 and $180,840. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
