Position Overview:

Autodesk is on a journey to transform its business through the realization of our platform strategy and is seeking a Distinguished Architect to help us in that journey. Our ability to deliver a trustworthy solution becomes paramount as our customers move their data and workflows into the Autodesk Platform. Delivering solutions that our customers consider dependable and performant while simultaneously addressing security, privacy, and cost concerns.
As a senior technology leader reporting to the Vice President of Data Platform, you will identify, assess, prioritise, and, most importantly, drive the projects through which we will achieve this outcome. You will play a key part in realising Autodesk's platform vision and transforming multiple industries. As we transition from a product company to a platform company, this is a high-impact role that will shape the direction of our systems and practices.

This team will work in a hybrid working model from our Dublin, Ireland or Cambridge, UK offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with peers throughout Autodesk to understand our architectural landscape and challenges, articulate opportunities, and motivate change with an emphasis on building trust
• Drive technical standards and approaches
• Work with leadership to articulate our current architecture and inform future investments via quantitative and qualitative arguments
• Assess current development and operational practices from an architectural perspective, emphasizing privacy, security and especially resilience.
• Propose, prioritize and encourage adoption of Autodesk architecture and practice standards
• Coordinate with multiple industry division product development teams, other members of our centralised platform team, and other teams. as required through effective communication and networking
• In collaboration with peers in PSET's architectural organisation, provide input on solving current and ongoing architecture challenges, designing and articulating architectural direction for platform and interrelated divisions
• Lead the resolution of complex problems within one's discipline, often with the need to integrate cross-functional processes and outcomes.
• Contribute to cross-organization working groups targeted to solving some of Autodesk's most pressing architectural challenges
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of architectural patterns, technologies and trends
• Bring innovative, state-of-the-industry architectural thinking to our practice of software architecture
• Support configuration management and help create a build-once, deploy-anywhere strategy for efficient deployment pipelines.
• Track industry best practices and advocate where relevant
• Influence leaders within your function to adopt solutions, establish priorities, and allocate resources
• Anticipate business challenges that could significantly impact Autodesk's operational and financial success and proactively develop solutions to address them.
• Advise on the development and adoption of Autodesk and AWS technologies, including databases, compute frameworks, CI/CD, and regionalisation strategies
• Write and speak internally about your work through internal conferences, mentoring, seminars, etc. Travel to at least four international trips per year will be required for internal meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience as a software engineer/architect
• 5+ years in a senior architecture role in a SaaS business pursuing a platform strategy
• Excellent experience in Java, Python, Golang and other programming languages.
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture on AWS (Azure or other clouds acceptable), working with managed services such as RDS, Aurora, ECS, and Lambda
• Drive continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) improvements, with experience in Jenkins, Harness and creating "golden paths" for developers
• Self-directed with an ability to complete work strategically and efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven track record of innovation demonstrated through patents, publications, or conference presentations.
• Experience leading a company's transition from a product-centric model to a platform-centric approach, focusing on scalability and agility.
• Strong background in architecting and building large-scale, highly available, resilient cloud-based solutions.
• Ability to lead teams or initiatives with significant organisational impact and visibility.
• Expertise in developing novel, cutting-edge solutions that push the boundaries of existing technology.

• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, influencing diverse stakeholders, and driving results in a dynamic environment. Background in creating scalable solutions that can be integrated into multiple business functions.
