Position Overview
As an experienced Ontologist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing ontologies that capture and organize complex information about Autodesk's systems and data in a way that is easily accessible and understandable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze data sources, develop taxonomies, and create semantic models that enable effective search, retrieval, and analysis of information. Your expertise in ontology engineering will be critical in developing dynamic knowledge management solutions that drive innovation and provide value to our architects, product managers and engineering community. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ontologies for organizing and managing structured data and system flows within the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document data models and business processes using ontological principles
- Design and implement data taxonomy and classification systems to ensure consistent and accurate data organization
- Conduct ontology mapping and integration to facilitate data interoperability and integration across systems
- Evaluate and apply best practices in ontology development and management to improve data quality and accessibility
- Support to a team of architects to create visualization of our eco system of operational and analytical systems, integrations and data models
- Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on ontology usage and best practices for data organization
- Create and maintain a framework for data stewardship by organizing stakeholders around data requirements
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in ontology development to enhance data management processes
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant work experience working in ontology and/or taxonomy, analyst roles
- Experience with data retrieval and data research techniques
- Knowledge of open-source and commercial ontology tools (e.g. Smartlogic, PoolParty, OWL)
- Ability to communicate knowledge-based requirements and needs to engineering and data teams
- Detail-oriented problem-solving, ability to work in fast-changing environment and manage ambiguity
- Experience building and unifying diverse ontologies for data and information systems
- Experience working with schema-level constructs (e.g. higher-order classes, punning, property inheritance)
- Proficiency in SQL and basic data analysis
- Familiarity with data and software engineering life cycles

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $83,200 and $143,550. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
