Position Overview
This position will focus primarily on developing a prototype to enhance the ease of use of our Simulation and Generative Design offerings in Fusion. You will be involved in creating a chatbot for our Simulation and Generative Design offerings which will make those tools easier to use. You will be part of a team that is focusing on improving the reach of our tools by leveraging your computer science skills and interest in solving real-world mechanical engineering problems.
As an intern you will be involved in:
- Develop an understanding of different technology stacks used in Simulation and Generative Design.
- Prototype a chatbot based on LLMs and RAG.
- Communicate research findings to product teams and propose solutions.

Responsibilities
- Design the chatbot architecture and implement a prototype
- Research pertinent documentation to be used by the chatbot
- Evaluate the chatbot's effectiveness and propose methods to improve it
- Collaborate with product teams working on the Fusion Simulation and Generative Design offerings
Minimum Requirements
- Full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent at an accredited program in the United States with at least one academic term to complete post internship to be eligible
- Familiarity with C++ and Python
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Familiarity with RAG and LLMs
- Eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- MS or PhD highly preferred
- Familiarity with topology optimization and meshing techniques in the context of FEA analysis
- Interest solving complex mechanical engineering problems

Salary Transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate's experience, educational level, and geographic location, and can exceed this range.
For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting annualized intern base salary to be between:
- $47,840 and $95,680 (undergraduate students)
- $72,800 and $118,500 (Masters/MBA students)
- $118,560 and $162,240 (PhD students)
