Position Overview
The Simulation, Optimization, and Systems (SOS) Group at Autodesk Research is seeking a dedicated and skilled research intern for the Summer, starting May5. This position is based in our Toronto office, located in the MaRS Discovery District. The role involves enhancing our in-house finite element library by extending its simulation capabilities and incorporating reduced order modeling (ROM)capabilities, specifically utilizing reduced basis methods for mechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the technical expertise of the SOS Group
- Conduct original research in reduced basis methods for reduced-order modeling of mechanical assemblies
- Review and comprehend academic papers in the ROM domain and implement the methodologies in C++
- Expand our in-house FE toolbox to include the ROM capabilities
- Benchmark, test, and enhance the capabilities of this toolbox
- Document the work carried out, either for academic publication or internal
- communication

Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering sciences, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience and excellent knowledge of C++ and scientific libraries
- Proficiency in implementing variational methods for solving partial differential
- equations
- Excellent knowledge in incorporating reduced basis methods and hyper-reduction techniques for accelerating the simulation of solid mechanics applications
- Experience in parametric shape optimization
- Experience in solving time-dependent problems for structural applications is preferred
- Proven experience in documenting scientific findings
