Your future team

This Senior Principal Technical Program Manager will partner with the Head of Engineering to lead the UI Platform. You'll report to the Head of Technical Program Management for Core Engineering. As a founding member of the UI TPM team you will bring leadership necessary to transform and lead the UIP strategy.

The UI Platform (UIP) team creates platforms, tools, and services for developers, designers, and content designers to create a consistent experience across Atlassian's products. This is a unique opportunity to influence important technical decisions across the company. You will work with world-class engineering teams and experts to build UI Platform and tools while breaking down technical barriers and strengthening existing systems.

This is an Individual Contributor role that could evolve in to a People Management role due to the potential growth of the team that we envision. As a senior member of the TPM team, you will also shape the TPM craft, which is still in a formation stage. We expect our Technical Program Managers to demonstrate attributes in the following three pillars: 1. Strong technical depth, 2. Ability to shape product strategy, 3. Drive execution in close collaboration with stakeholders across numerous crafts and product areas.

  • Analyse the current state of UI Platform, business goals, customer needs, product adoption inhibitors, and industry trends
  • Based on the above analysis, in close collaboration with your stakeholders you'll define a long-term strategy and roadmap for UIP.
  • Ensure translation of the strategy and platform/product requirements into technical requirements and solutions in collaboration with your partner teams and engineering counterparts.
  • Streamline the execution of the articulated roadmap. Drive adoption/usage of the platform and tools across Atlassian product teams.
  • As a leader for the UI Platform, including platform and products, programs, customer scenarios - you will proactively identify any inhibitors, issues or opportunities, and proactively address them or find the right owners to do so.
  • As a senior member of the UIP team, you will drive some of the most complex, cross-divisional projects, with complex dependencies and broad scope across the company


  • 12+ years experience working with software teams
  • 4+ years recent experience leading platform and software teams in a similar Technical Program Management or Technical Product Management role
  • Experience building commercial Cloud Services / Platforms
  • Experience leading strategy and execution on complex, cross divisional, technical programs, including analysing business priorities, customer needs, industry trends and articulating a long-term roadmap.
  • Demonstrating your technical depth, you have influenced architecture or technical design, in partnership with your senior engineering partners.
  • Experience driving projects spanning multiple teams, including reaching agreements with your engineering partners and stakeholders, shepherding the projects while identifying and mitigating risks, making trade-off decisions optimising the outcome
  • Able to translate customer and/or product requirements into technical requirements
  • 3+ years of People Management experience
