We are currently seeking a Facilities Project and Design Manager to join our Corporate Real Estate (CRE) Facilities team in San Diego. This position entails the management of interior and exterior construction renovations within an industrial operation.

The Facilities Project and Design Manager is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, technical direction of assigned projects. The Facilities Project and Design Manager works closely with cross-functional groups (D&E, Manufacturing, upper management) andbuilds constructive and effective relationships and is responsible for communicating status and reports throughout the entire organization.Projects range in size from small production assembly and office reconfigurations to new building additions. Working with internal stakeholders, the Facilities Project and Design Manager will assess each project's needs and be responsible for overall project planning, budget estimating, scheduling, project accounting and control, and provide technical direction while ensuring a safe worksite and compliance with quality standards for San Diego and west coast locations.

Role and responsibilities:
  • Manages the facilities project activities within a Facilities program. This includes but is not limited to creating and tracking and maintain schedules, budgets, costs, performance targets, resource plans, and general and detailed planning and construction coordination activities for Facility Project deliverables.
  • Assess risk and mitigation strategies, highlight issues and manage solutions. Must be proficient at executive communications and present multiple PowerPoint briefs to leadership weekly.
  • Manages all phases of projects, including project set-up, design and construction administration contracts from inception through project completion. Manage and coordinate projects with all involved parties, including stakeholders, architects, engineers, subcontractors and tenants.
  • Tracks financial performance of projects including funding requests, Negotiates Consulting and Construction Services Contracts, bidding, award process, creates purchase requisitions, approved invoicing, performs quality assurance.
  • Ensures excellent communication (through effective meetings, email, and other means) to ensure facilities project plan and status is communicated and followed within the program's engineering team and with cross-functional groups.
  • Interacts with all partner teams and other project managers as primary spokesperson on relevant project/program issues.
  • Ensures successful completion of Facility Projects by ensuring required inspections, commissioning and handoff to Facilities Maintenance end user(s).
  • Manages the effective usage of the design review process within the program's engineering team and facilitate necessary approvals. Responsible for facility project documentation from planning through project closeout. Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts and Purchase Orders
  • Monitors contractor performance; ensure adherence to terms and conditions of agreements
  • Leads facilities and cross-functional team members consisting of individual contributors and managers to create and execute product development schedules in compliance with corporate roadmaps, business and facility planning guidelines, and program manager/executive guidance on projects.
  • Ensures a constant high level of facility operations in line with existing policies and guidelines. You will further contribute to develop policies and guidelines as ASML evolves. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and experience:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering field (EE, ME preferred) or related technical degree.
  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant project management experience in industrial/manufacturing construction and renovations as individual contributor.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years project management experience leading complex technical projects/activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge desired in general HVAC, clean room filtration, boilers, water purification, wastewater collection and treatment, central plant utilities exhaust ventilation, air treatment systems, high-purity gas distribution, gas detection, safety alarm systems, electrical distribution and clean room operations, building codes, fire/life safety regulations and OSHA requirements desired.
  • Proficient in the construction process, safety procedures, construction materials and methods. Ensures site compliance regarding safety and environmental requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project).
  • Sufficient technical knowledge and experience to be able to communicate effectively with the project teams, and to check/review their plans and progress.
  • Demonstrated success as a hands on leader / manager with a sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under pressure.
  • Working experience in an international setting with the ability to work with other cultures.
  • Ability to plan development expenses over a quarter to quarter period and track expenses.
  • Ability to adapt processes to improve inefficiencies and accelerate product development.
  • Ability to read and optimize engineering documentation, Proficient in the construction process, safety procedures, construction materials and methods, read and understand blueprints.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
