Job Description

As a Software Quality Engineer you will test and validate software applications utilized to test Cymer deep ultraviolet (DUV) light sources and modules. Participate in the full development cycle of software test tools: requirements, design, development, test and release. Tests and validates test equipment utilized to run test software applications. Coordinate work with other members of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate the identification, elicitation of product and/or project requirements, conduct analysis of those requirements for completion and alignment, document and manage requirements and coordinate the verification of the end deliverable.
  • Contribute to the specification of Qualification-, Integration-, and Production- Tests, design and produce associated test tools, realize the qualification of the design by ensuring the proto production, execute tests and report results.
  • Validate new or existing complex test methods and procedures; identify issues and recommend improvements to contribute to further development.
  • Oversee the dependencies between project team tasks, assist PO/PL in planning, proactively signal risk of not delivering on spec and in time, take the lead in teamwork breakdown from features to daily tasks, deliver weekly deliverables, carry out assigned departmental projects.
  • Provide input to PO/PL for upcoming features in terms of content and high level effort estimates.
  • Document complex design choices and specifications in all phases to ensure product documentation is up to date and relevant underlying assumptions and restrictions are documented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related discipline. Master degree or PhD is a plus.
  • A minimum of six (6) years industry experience developing software test plans.
  • Experience with software development process, software configuration management and defect tracking (JIRA, SVN).
  • Experience validating test equipment (test computers, DAQ systems, I/O boards, Interface boxes, cable systems).
  • Experience testing / using communication interfaces: RS232, RS422, Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP, TCP), SPI.
  • Experience testing LabVIEW applications is a plus.
  • Must have experience in software testing.
  • Advantageous to have experience with Jira, Oracle Agile, Polarion software
  • Experience with complex systems across hardware and software is a plus.

Skills & Competencies
  • Able to technically lead engineering team and advise management.
  • Ability to use standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, signal generators and power meters.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, both internal as well as external.
  • Can observe and respond to people and situations and interact with others encountered in the course of work.
  • Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
  • Ability to write technical and status reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of accountability, responsibility, and technical competence.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a process driven demanding environment with changing workloads.
  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use structured problem solving to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Project planning and execution.

Other Information
  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, California.It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation
  • A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to 2 days a week).
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$130,125-216,875
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
