Introduction to the job

ASML US brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

The Senior Researcher drives technical analysis on the latest the customer technology. Understands, anticipates, develops and provides context for lithography advancements in order to provide the insights to ASML technology roadmap. Performs feasibility studies, supports the development of product road maps and advises on future product and technology definitions. Contributes to the design and construction of new tools, methods, procedures and processes in the lab. Makes sure that instructions and safety measures are in place

  • Technically leads a (multidisciplinary) project, work package or technical competence on function level (FC) or comparable level of complexity. Creates technical budgets and definitions.
  • Using Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, Mechanics, and Software knowledge and an understanding of the sensor system as well as its function in the lithography tool or metrology tool to model, design and de-bug new and existing sensors in complex evolving environments.
  • Shapes new technology by defining critical problems and proposing solutions paths for new problems at ASML requiring technology and/or competences unknown inside ASML but known outside of ASML.
  • Manages technical uncertainties at function level (FC) or comparable level of complexity. Most technical components have a considerable level of uncertainty.
  • Independently realizes cross disciplinary Research (in relation to adjacent areas and disciplines) at function level (FC) or comparable level of complexity. Performs feasibility studies, supports the development of product road maps and advises on future product and technology definitions. Determines the work via clearly scoped work packages driven by a technical risk assessment.
  • Ensures that the competence level is maintained and improved leading into Invention Disclosures.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining academic collaborations related to competence development.
