Introduction to the job
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled hands-on Optical Engineer for our SEM department in the ASML - HMI.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
The Optical Engineer role is responsible for all research, design, development, test and qualification of optical modules for ASML-HMI's products, such as imaging system, leveling sensor, alignment sensor, seat sensor, tilt sensor, interferometer, etc.

Education and experience
• PhD or MS candidates in Optical engineering, physics or other engineering disciplines.
Skills
- Familiar with optical system design and analysis.
- Familiar with optical design software, such as Zemax or code v, etc.
- Data analysis with excel, MATLAB or python, etc.
- Able to apply professional knowledge to develop /integrate semiconductor equipment and ability to learn
- New technology through hands on experience and project development.
- Good analytical skills.
- Use different tools for troubleshooting system .
- Time management skills to handle multiple requests at a given time
- Able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audience.

- This position is located on-site in San Jose, CA. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. (Important to insert additional onsite language specific to the role: i.e., inspection, specific training and supervision, etc.)
- The employee is mainly working inside the clean room. Therefore, remote work is not an option.
- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move inside the clean room and around the campus.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
