The Lean Six Sigma Engineering Internship, as a member of the System Integration team, will focus on expanding problem-solving methodologies within daily system integration work. Their role includes ensuring the implementation of improvement activities identified through kaizen events or Value Stream Mapping activities.
Role and responsibilities
- Support specific Kaizen such as 5S+1, Re-layout Test Rig Areas, Leveling, Process Improvements, Simplifications, Visual Management
- Promote and support Problem Solving within Daily Shop Management framework
- Support activities of Lean Manufacturing in order to identify opportunities and lead Kaizen Events in order to turn these opportunities into reality
- Serve as a change agent by stimulating, communicating and institutionalizing Lean Six Sigma initiatives
- Support colleagues on Lean Six Sigma methodology and its application
- Share and institutionalize best practices across business lines
- Other duties as assigned

Education and experience
- Pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's in Manufacturing, Management, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
- Master's degree is preferred
- Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodology
- Working knowledge of one of the following programming languages C, C++, Python
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
Skills
- Knowledge of Lean Basics and experience in its application in a manufacturing reality
- Change agent with resilience and persistence skills (Cleanroom Oriented)
- Established analytical and quantitative ability (Data Mining & Data Crunching)
- Proved Training on Lean Concept
- Six Sigma Green certification is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment for process improvement
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal, Influencing and leadership skills
- Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities
- Able to make executive presentations
- Strong organizational skills

Other information
This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, training courses and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
- The employee is required to work in a cleanroom environment: full gowning (full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves and safety glasses. Working under ISO 9000/14000 standards).
- Operating/working around overhead cranes, fork trucks and motorized pallet movers.
- Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals.
- The employee is occasionally required to move around the campus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
