The Electrical Competence Manager is the functional owner of, and responsible for ALL building electrical assets, planning and documentation (US/EURO). This includes system specifications, performance and maintenance requirements for critical electrical assets (High Voltage, Low Voltage, Switchgear, Mains, Distribution, Panels, and other critical infrastructure) associated with the ASML Wilton facilities and manufacturing systems.

The Competence Managers are the owners of the User Requirements Specifications, Engineering Design Guidelines, Maintenance Policies and Procedures, support the development of the Utility Master Plan, contribute to the Strategic Industrial Masterplan (SIM), perform feasibility studies, provide leadership and guidance in establishing and documenting local competence knowledge and/ or standards of the Wilton campus. All in an effort to align with ASML strategic business and production output requirements.

In order to enable ASML's vision, the Facilities Management (FM) department, part of the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) organization, strives to maintain a consistent set of physical assets through its complete lifecycle to support the production process of ASML in an optimal manner. In addition, CRE FM is responsible to manage all buildings, grounds and services with the aim to contribute to an appealing, attractive and comfortable working environment for ASML employees and visitors. Our joint CRE strategic pillars Safety, Total cost of ownership, Flexibility, Business alignment, Wellbeing and Sustainability guide us in our plans and activities.

The Electrical Competence Manager ensures effective and successful Operations, Maintenance and Support of Facilities and Operational services and decisions. These transitions should be derived from and contributing to the strategic pillars.

Role and responsibilities
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • May require travel dependent on business needs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical distribution systems within a manufacturing facility. This role supports maintenance operations and capital projects, providing expertise in medium and low-voltage power distribution (601V-69kV) with high-voltage knowledge (69kV-230kV) as a plus. The engineer will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to develop and maintain robust electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and business continuity.

Electrical Systems & Maintenance Support:
  • Oversee design, operation, and maintenance of medium (601V-69kV) and low-voltage (≤600V) electrical distribution systems, with high-voltage (69kV-230kV) knowledge as a plus.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance for electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with reliability best practices.
  • Provide technical oversight for power system components, including switchgear, transformers, emergency/backup power systems, and UPS.
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Project Engineering & Infrastructure Planning:
  • Develop electrical system master plans to support facility growth and capacity planning.
  • Lead capital and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business needs, safety codes, and performance objectives.
  • Review electrical system designs, specifications, and contractor work for compliance with IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and corporate standards.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, expansions, and modifications with engineering teams and external service providers.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management:
  • Ensure adherence to NFPA 70E, OSHA, and local electrical codes, driving a strong electrical safety culture.
  • Develop and review Method of Procedures (MOPs) for critical system work, ensuring safe execution of electrical maintenance and upgrades.
  • Perform arc flash studies, coordination studies, and load flow analysis to mitigate electrical hazards.
  • Implement redundancy and reliability improvements to minimize power disruptions and support business continuity.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Partner with Facilities, Maintenance, EHS, and Production teams to ensure seamless power distribution.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel and project managers on electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external contractors to resolve issues and optimize electrical performance.
Performance Criteria:
  • System Reliability: Maintain electrical system uptime at 99.5% or higher.
  • Project Execution: Deliver infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and NEC regulations.
  • Energy Efficiency: Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives with measurable cost reductions.
Experience and education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of medium-voltage (601V-69kV) and low-voltage (≤600V) systems, with high-voltage (69kV-230kV) experience as a plus.
  • Proficiency in electrical power distribution, emergency power systems, load flow analysis, and protective relay coordination.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance and work orders.
  • NFPA 70E certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with ability to write clear reports, procedures, and technical documents.
  • Experience working with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Stakeholder Relationships:

The Facilities Electrical Engineer collaborates with maintenance teams, project engineers, EHS personnel, and external suppliers to optimize electrical infrastructure. This role acts as a technical lead for electrical reliability and compliance, ensuring seamless operation of manufacturing facilities.

  • This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT.It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
