Job Description

The Utility Mechanic performs basic maintenance service or repairs in the following areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, and minor electrical repairs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains friendly, efficient Spirit of Service attitude towards customers, co-workers and clients.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance functions with minimal supervision and not limited to plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Can perform basic carpentry tasks such as ceiling tile replacement, adjust doors and cabinets, hang pictures/plaques, adjust closers and panic bars, perform minor construction etc.
  • Can perform basic electrical tasks such as light bulb replacement, ballast replacement, replace switches and outlets, repair or replace light fixtures as needed etc.
  • Can perform basic plumbing tasks such as plunging toilets and sinks, replacing valves, replacing faucets, and some basic pipe fitting to include soldering and threading, etc.
  • Can perform basic mechanic tasks such as belt replacement, greasing of bearings, filter changes, etc.
  • Can perform locksmith duties if assigned or hired for this craft.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools required to complete above tasks.
  • Performs all repairs according to specifications and standards.
  • Can work from drawings and follow all maintenance instructions.
  • Adheres to all established systems and training programs to ensure a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal government regulations.
  • Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient/resident population.
  • Maintains compliance with ARAMARK?s standards of operation, client contract and within ARAMARK?s Business Conduct Policy. Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with ARAMARK/HSS, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes.
  • Maintains compliance with all requirements of Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended.
  • Performs all other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work all shifts as determined by management.
  • 0 to 2 years experience in hands-on maintenance, mechanical and/or trade experience including, but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and maintenance.
  • Must have some technical knowledge of chemicals and equipment
  • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively.
  • Ability to apply elementary math functions.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
