Job Description

As the Patient Transport and Medical Support Lead, you will oversee the Medical Support Services team within the Supply Chain Equipment Depot. This team is responsible for transporting patients and their belongings, managing medical equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. You will ensure efficient operations, adherence to safety protocols, and excellent customer service. Your role includes verifying equipment, coordinating maintenance, mentoring team members, and upholding patient confidentiality.

Pay Rate:

$24+/hr depending on experience

Job Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operations Manager in providing day-to-day oversight to the Medical Support Services team members.
  • Guide team members in verifying equipment, managing transport tasks, and ensuring timely completion of duties.
  • Assist the manager in creating team members' weekly schedules and maintaining department records.
  • Supervise the dispatch and transportation of specialty equipment between vendors and nursing units.
  • Monitor performance, provide problem-solving assistance, and support team members during staffing challenges.
  • Participate in interviewing, orienting, developing, and training new staff.
  • Attend department and company meetings and contribute to department projects as assigned.
  • Provide superior customer service and communicate clearly and professionally with customers, hospital personnel, patients, and visitors.

Essential Functions
Patient Transport:

  • Safely transport patients and their belongings, medical records, and equipment within the hospital.
  • Move patients with traction, IVs, drainage apparatus, oxygen, and other encumbrances.
  • Assist with patient admissions and discharges, helping patients in and out of vehicles.
  • Monitor transport requests and delegate tasks using the hospital transportation computer and two-way radio communication system.
  • Medical Equipment Management:
  • Oversee the verification of inbound and outbound medical equipment.
  • Lead the replenishment and expiration date checks of respiratory and code cart supplies.
  • Document the code cart exchange process via the KitCheck system.
  • Coordinate routine and preventative equipment maintenance with the BioMed team.
  • Assemble, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform quality assurance testing of respiratory equipment.

  • Follow OSHA regulations and other local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree strongly preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare-specific environment or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and capability.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is favorable.
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Essential 1.0 required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in the use of computers and software programs including Microsoft Office, Facility Fit, and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and people management skills.
  • Ability to lift and transport 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Flexibility with work schedule and ability to respond quickly to changes.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
