Job Description
The role is an opportunity for a student to gain industry experience and practical understanding of a variety of sustainability issues related to food service systems. Sun Devil Hospitality is committed to making environmentally responsible decisions across our operations to minimize our impact on the environment while providing quality food and service at Arizona State University. This position will focus on sustainability issues through three overarching areas: marketing and communications, food service operations, and student engagement and event planning. This role will work with the Sustainability Manager and Sun Devil Hospitality team

Job Responsibilities
Marketing/Communications:
? Implement and assist in the development of Sun Devil Hospitality sustainability campaigns (Campus Sustainability Month, Earth Day, employee incentive programs, etc.)
? Act as a liaison between our operations and student sustainability groups on campus
? Assist in the development of educational signage for Sun Devil Hospitality locations and help plan and implement tabling events focused on sustainable food initiatives
Food Service Operations:
? Assist with events focused on highlighting local farmers and vendors at engagement event
? Play an active role in promoting, training, and tracking recycling and composting efforts
? Assist in supporting the sustainability champions at several dining locations throughout campus
? Assist in the development and implementation of the single-use plastic reduction campaign as well as supporting energy and water conversation efforts
Research & Development (potential projects and reports):
? Assist in gathering and analyzing data for periodic sustainability reports and presentations
? Conduct environmental audits to ensure sustainable practices are being followed correctly
? Conduct research on strategies to encourage more sustainable practices (ie. Food waste reduction in dining and encouraging more plant based / climate friendly eating)

Qualifications
? Sustainability or Environmental major preferred, must be an Arizona State University undergraduate student
? Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
