Job Description
The IT Coordinator at UVA Dine is tasked with maintenance of systems and applications via the central command console in a multi-task, multi-platform computer environment. Manages, prepares, and distributes all printed output to the appropriate owner. Resolves failure point of systems, peripheral devices and applications and takes appropriate corrective action, as advised. Identifies problems requiring support from internal IT groups, users and vendors to Supervisor. Documents problems, resolutions, new processes and procedures. This is an in-person position located on The University of Virginia grounds.
Job Responsibilities
- Carries out and adheres to Computer Operations Security Policy and Procedures.
- Is responsible for the availability and/or performance of internal system usage
- Oversees systems and applications for alerts, alarms or messages indicating failures, errors, interruptions or delays in processing or services
- Identifies, researches, and develops solutions for failure points of systems or applications
- Elevates problems to the Supervisor, appropriate level of support groups, hardware engineers, Service Center or user community
- Alerts the designated On Call personnel of problems impacting systems, applications or environment (such as power, air-conditioning in the Data Center or Operations Center via a phone call or email)
- Generates and submits a problem ticket for all issues.
- Oversees the execution of jobs setup
- Prints and packages checks, direct deposit advices, reports and forms for pickup, delivery and distribution to the Tower users. Complete reconciliation forms for checks and advices. Stocks printers with paper/forms. Replenishes toner and maintains clean print room.
- Attends and/or leads daily Computer Operations Shift Turnover Meeting to review schedules, problems, changes and provide updates of other Operations activities.
- Handles tape media by loading and unloading media stored in transport containers, logging and tracking media being rotated and transported to and from the offsite storage facility. Verifies, confirms and files media tape activity listings generated for UNIX, Windows and Mainframe tape libraries. Files media in designated location. Loads and unloads tapes in the tape libraries. Assists with the preparation of tape media required for participation in scheduled Disaster Recovery Exercises. Participates in scheduled media tape inventory that occurs at the offsite storage facility.
- Maintains and provides limited preventive maintenance on equipment such as toner replacement, fuser oil refills, sensor cleaning on printers, shrink wrap machine, shredder and tape libraries.
- Assists data center users encountering problems or guides them to the accurate source.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability as a computer operator.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow directives, write short correspondence and connect with other groups.
- Ability to analyze problems and resolve reasonable actions with instruction.
- Ability to work occasional non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late evenings, nights, weekends and holidays is requirement of the position.
