Compliance Specialist and Counsel

Aramark is seeking a Compliance Specialist and Counsel to join the global compliance team to support the government affairs compliance program. The position reports to the VP, Government Affairs Compliance and Assistant General Counsel and is based at Aramark HQ in Philadelphia.

Job Responsibilities

  • Legal analysis and advice: Review and provide input on bids and contracts relating to governmental or quasi-governmental business to ensure appropriate consideration of legal and regulatory impact. Identify issues and provide advice regarding legal and regulatory issues (e.g., FCA liability), anti-corruption laws, diverse supplier requirements, gifts and entertainment rules, ?pay to play? filings, lobbying, and federal contracts requirements.
  • Written Work Product: Draft memoranda, responses to RFPs, contractual language, and communications relating to compliance requirements and processes. Update policies and procedures as needed.
  • Interactions with the government: Interface directly with state and local governmental agencies to support accurate and timely filing of various regulatory documents, including licenses, permits and certifications. Ensure accurate and timely SAM submissions.
  • Education and Awareness: Conduct awareness sessions as needed to educate operations, sales and other professionals regarding regulatory and/or policy updates.
  • Compliance Enablement: Work directly with internal legal, sales, financial, operations, and supply chain personnel to address diverse supplier commitments. Develop field-friendly processes and tools to facilitate compliance. Other duties as may be requested by Aramark Compliance and/or Legal.

Qualifications

  • Educational background: J.D. and current Pennsylvania bar admission or admission in another jurisdiction with the ability to become licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience: At least 1-3 years of legal experience at a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency. Experience with anti-corruption, diverse supplier requirements, gifts and entertainment rules, ?pay to play? filings, lobbying, and federal contracts/SAM requirements preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, drafting, and communication (written and oral) skills. Ability to distill complex regulatory schemes into requirements that are easily understood by business clients. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Characteristics: Excellent judgment, commitment to integrity, and professional demeanor. Comfortable interacting with government agencies. Collaborative, responsive, and acts with a sense of purpose and urgency. Must be adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and meet deadlines. Inquisitive, an enthusiastic learner, and open to new challenges or projects.
