This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit.

In this position you will be uniquely positioned to support Aptiv's mission. This role will lead all functional safety related activities for a given development project as well as support technical discussions with a global team. You will also be involved with a core safety team supporting in the development of Aptiv functional safety processes.

Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):

  • Definition of project responsibilities for entire system and detailed responsibilities (if necessary, delegation or grouping of activities)
  • Project coordination and planning of organizational safety activities in coordination with the Regional Functional Safety Manager (preparation and updating of project safety plan), including the planning of the following activities:

  • Planning all safety activities of the project safety lifecycle and document the planned safety activities in the project (Functional Safety Plan + Functional Safety Case) ensuring traceability.
  • Tailoring of development process Initiation and planning of Assessments of Functional Safety (scheduling, timing, organization) Initiation of verification and validation planning and associated measures Planning and Tracking of work-products which are part of the Safety Case.
  • Application of measures for the avoidance of systematic non-conformities.
  • All safety-relevant internal and external interfaces (e.g. with customers, suppliers and other business units)
  • Cooperation with Regional Functional Safety Manager on process tailoring and improvement.
  • Cooperation with QM in the various development phases with respect to process and project and product.
  • Guide safety related activities including safety analyses in the project.
  • Escalate functional safety anomalies or safety related items to competency managers, program manager, system lead engineer and/or regional functional safety manager.
  • Interface to customers and suppliers for functional safety.
  • Prepare and maintain safety case.
  • Attend and moderate functional safety related work product verification reviews or confirmation reviews.
  • Create and maintain Development Interface Agreement (DIA) between OEMs and/or suppliers.
  • Responsible for developing a Technical Safety Concept(TSC)
  • Support project members to handle safety activities.
  • Leading qualification of hardware elements, software components and tools.
  • Use of toolchains such as JIRA, Polarion, Plastic SCM, Ansys Medini.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements.

  • Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):

    • Bachelor's or higher degree in Systems, Electrical or Software Engineering.
    • Understanding of ISO 26262 knowledge, rules and processes.
    • More than 2 years project functional safety management experience.
    • More than 3 years automotive product development experience.
    • Ability to speak English fluently.
    • Analytical thinking skills.
    • Confidence in communication and relation with co-workers.
    • Ability to form cohesive argumentation based on facts and requirements.
    • Team orientated and good communications skills.
    • MS Office knowledge.
    • Willingness to Travel up to 20% of the year.

    Your Preferred Background (i.e. Nice to Haves):

    • More than 3 years safety analysis experience (Safety DFMEA, FMEDA, Fault Tree Analysis, Dependent Failure Analysis, etc.)
    • Familiarity with toolchains such as JIRA, Polarion, Plastic SCM, Ansys Medini.
    • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.)
    • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics.
    • Resourcefully innovative and adapts in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team.
    • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently
    • Strong presence, poise and persuasiveness to establish a high level of credibility quickly.
