Your Role
We are looking for System Engineers to manage top-level requirements and testing for reusable camera-based driver monitoring system (DMS) software features. The software will be used by other Aptiv teams delivering products to world-wide automotive OEMs. Driver monitoring fits within Aptiv's overall effort within interior sensing, which also includes features such as seat occupancy monitoring, seat belt usage detection and gesture recognition. DMS is a rapidly growing area which plays a critical role in the prevention of road accidents caused by driver drowsiness or distraction.

As a Systems Engineer in our team, you will have the broadest understanding of how our driver monitoring features are implemented and the current state of implementation. You will facilitate the software development process by:
- Having a deep understanding of driver monitoring system product requirements deriving from global regulations and customers
- Working within a global engineering team to ensure that the overall product design meets product requirements and customer expectations
- Ensuring the requirements management process is well-structed; leading decomposition efforts, writing requirements, and reporting on progress
- Performing system level in-vehicle and bench testing to ensure requirements are met
- Analyzing market available technical innovations and working with the architects to apply in Aptiv products
Your Background
Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:
- Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
- Background working with both hardware and software, including an ability to handle basic electronics construction and measurement tasks
- Demonstrated ability to do methodical problem solving, especially separating hardware problems from software problems
- Experience with structured requirements management processes
- Very good communication skills in English in written and spoken form
Additional points for:
- 3+ years of automotive software experience, including ASPICE process knowledge
- Experience working within a multi-regional or multi-site development team
- Experience with Polarion or other Lifecycle Management tools
- Experience with Jira or similar software task planning tools
