Global Category Lead (Semi-Conductor)

Your Role

As a Global Category Lead you will have direct influence on business results with all of Aptiv's business sectors. You will be responsible for key areas in the global Semiconductor portfolio. In this role, you will define the supply and sourcing strategy for specific technology / category. You will have global scope that includes providing guidance to the entire SCM and Business organization. Your day to day will consist of the following:

  • Develop purchasing strategy in support of the corporate strategy and aggressive growth plans and ensure it's maintained to be presented on annual basis to executive management.
  • Engage with our Engineering and Product line Teams to ensure that procurement consideration are central to product development.
  • Responsible for the overall performance and competitiveness for assigned technology.
  • Continuous benchmarking of the assigned technology.
  • Generate and drive VAVE ideas/initiatives related to assigned technology to deliver cost savings.
  • Drive sourcing activities for assigned technology, ensure adequate QTSP (Quality, Technology, Service/Delivery and Price) using auctions, e-bidding, RFQs, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Advance Sourcing team on supplier and technology selection ensuring there is alignment with the category strategy.
  • Close working with Product-line SCM and Component engineering on cross referencing part on the new pursuits and running programs to insure alignment with CASL (Category Approved Supplier List).
  • Review CASL list on the annual basis to align with Category strategy.
  • The KPIs for this role are outlined as follows:
  • Develop close working relationship with supplier Business Line team to understand technology roadmaps
  • Deliver YOY Cost reduction
  • Ensure sources are closed on time and nomination letters sent to the suppliers
  • Develop and maintain category / technology strategy

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business, or similar qualification; higher qualification (i.e. MBA) is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in procurement in electronics.
  • Experience in purchasing subject components, preferably in the Automotive industry,and specifically, with Semi-conductor components
  • Access to best industry practice, industry trends, and supply/demand and thorough understanding of products.
  • Ability to create and promote best in class category strategies by integrating market with Aptiv product line objectives.
  • Skills to analyze supplier financial information and capability.
  • Ability to travel both locally and globally (approximately 20-30% of working time).
  • Comfortable leading in a matrix environment.
