At Applied Materials' Photonics Platforms Business Unit (PPB), we are pioneering the development and commercialization of novel nano-photonic devices for applications in augmented reality. We are harnessing the power of Applied Material's world-leading material science and nano-fabrication capabilities to enable the next generation of photonic devices.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to support the selection of a new semiconductor fabrication facility (fab) and its ramp-up phase. This position will play a pivotal role in evaluating potential fab locations, selecting semiconductor manufacturing tools, and overseeing the installation and ramp-up of these tools in the fab. Your expertise in tool selection, technical evaluation, and project management will be essential in ensuring a successful and efficient ramp-up phase for our new fab.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, procurement, and finance, to define project goals, objectives, and deliverables related to fab selection and tool ramp-up.
- Evaluate and select semiconductor manufacturing tools based on performance, technology advancements, cost, and compatibility with fab requirements.
- Collaborate with tool suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely tool delivery, installation, and qualification.
- Oversee the installation, calibration, and commissioning of semiconductor manufacturing tools in the fab.
- Develop and execute a tool ramp-up plan, ensuring alignment with project timelines and production requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement tool performance metrics, monitoring tools' efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to resolve any technical issues related to tool performance or integration.
- Drive the process transfer from our R&D line to the new manufacturing line.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Monitor tool ramp-up progress, identifying risks, challenges, and opportunities, and implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Provide regular updates to senior management, highlighting key milestones, risks, and recommended actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, with a focus on tool selection, installation, and ramp-up.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing tools, equipment, and process integration.
- Proven experience in selecting and evaluating semiconductor manufacturing tools based on performance, cost, and compatibility.
- Proficient in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and industry standards.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
