Key Responsibilities
Director role responsible for overseeing and optimizing global transportation network for Applied Global Services (service parts), requiring strong leadership skills and a broad understanding of various transportation networks. This role is pivotal in driving process improvements, cost reductions, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. The director will act as a change agent, managing a team to enhance global transportation processes and foster innovation in logistics operations.
- Lead a global team of Logistics Transportation personnel located in Asia, Europe and North America driving the effective management our shipments.
- Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with the organization's overall goals, including:
- Oversee transportation delivery performance
- Evaluate cost management initiatives for implementation, while partnering with our commercial team to ensure seamless execution.
- Provide guidance to team on new carrier implementations, evaluating SOW, expectations for transportation carriers, and project implementations
- Optimization of transportation route system setting to ensure efficient delivery.
- Govern the Global Transportation and Logistics process strategy and Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure improvements in the global transportation network.
- Support the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to ensure compliance with global transportation carrier relationships.
- Lead global delivery sustainability and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) processes.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives related to transportation activities, including: On Time Delivery Performance, defect resolution, cost initiatives, risk management activities. Participates in carrier performance discussions on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Develops and leads projects/initiatives related to transportation service reliability, cost efficiency, system capabilities, and customer satisfaction.
- Point of escalation for high level escalations from our internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Order management, Order fulfillment, Logistics Operations, Commodity Business Management, and procurement.
- Implement proactive innovations in global transportation, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, Process Management, or Operations Management.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with global Transportation Management Systems with managerial experience.
- Experience with global multi-modal Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Experience in implementing transportation processes within a large, complex organization.
- Strong collaboration and team-building skills across a global organization.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive management and all organizational levels.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence and reach consensus.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of Distribution & Network Design systems and processes.
- Experience leading projects with structured methodology.
- Deep understanding of continuous improvement mindset, concepts and tools
- Flexibility to work on different time zones throughout the week connecting with North America, Europe and Asia colleagues.
- A strategic and analytical mindset with excellent communication and presentation skills. Highly structured and organized work.
- Leadership and mentoring skills, with confidence in your abilities to lead organizational change.
