Displays provide a window between people and the information universe. Humans crave information and we live in an era where digital information - entertainment, news, education, social networking, and much more - is readily available. Tainan Display Lab (TDL) lays a strategic role in employing deep display expertise to enable the next generation of displays. It is the world's first combined display equipment manufacturing facility and R&D laboratory. The lab helps display makers transform their ideas into reality and pave the way for the next generation of displays.
TDL plays a key role in advancing improvements such as image resolution and quality, size increases, and new form factors as the display industry has evolved from CRTs to LCDs, and now to OLED. These innovations, along with reduced costs, have enabled new products and driven the proliferation of displays that create dynamic and stunning visual experiences for consumers. The facility, which occupies about 5.1 hectares includes two cleanrooms and a laboratory. It is located close to customers in the Tainan Science Park, to provide fast support to our display customers throughout Asia.

Key Responsibilities
- Intermediate knowledge of and the ability to incorporate DFx best practices to optimize product cost, quality and manufacturing cycle time.
- Analyzes medium complex designs to ensure components and assemblies are manufacturable and produceable. Solicits input from suppliers on manufacturability and produceability improvements on designs. Participates in cross-functional teams to develop manufacturability and assembly-related BKMs.
- Evaluates and implements medium complexity cost reduction ideas to reduce part/assembly costs in the machined, sheet metal, and plastic commodities. Identifies use cases for commonly used OEM's to leverage re-use. Understands how cost apportionment drives cost reduction opportunities and priorities. Complexity - medium BTP parts, OEM's, and simple assemblies; < $500
- Intermediate knowledge of ITO principles. Identifies and implements opportunities to maximize core content, and ensure late configurability in the manufacturing sequence on medium complex modules or products. Participates in cross-functional teams to develop ITO BKMs.
- Intermediate understanding of shipping/cargo restrictions by mode of transportation, customer facilities restrictions, and proper labeling. Ensures proper crate packaging on moderately complex assemblies/modules to prevent product damage during transportation. Participates in cross functional teams to develop tools and processes that improve transportability.
- Performs virtual review of moderately complex assembly/module 3D models and review of initial physical builds to identify and eliminate aesthetic issues (cable routing, color, consistency of mating features/surfaces, etc). Participates in cross functional teams on the development of aesthetics-related BKM's. Leverages lessons learned from like products to ensure aesthetic consistency.
- Participates in design reviews, providing intermediate level of DFX input focused on manufacturability, produceability, cost, assembly, transportability, and aesthetics. Participate in PLC DFX workshop to align on scope for DFX review (functional description, cost apportionment, mfg strategy, test strategy, etc). Participates in cross functional teams to develop BKM's in the DMU and DFX workshop processes and tools.
- Intermediate knowledge of and experience with the day-to-day operations, standards, and policies of a semiconductor equipment manufacturing plant or facility.
