What You'll Do

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Modeling and Optimization Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Semiconductor Industry. Your day to day will be working at the intersection of data science and materials engineering. The successful candidate will aid in the process development not just for one group, but for each of the other business units in the Boise, ID site.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multiple teams within Applied Materials to drive ML/AI applications.
  • Identify similarities and differences between teams and how ML/AI solutions can be utilized within those teams appropriately.
  • Document Best Known Methods based on team specific needs.
  • Analyze data efficiently and communicate analysis outcomes.
  • Perform statistical modeling to assist in process optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with plasma physics is ideal
  • Strong hardware aptitude
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Interest in Machine Learning (ML)
