Description
The Video Systems Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of key video and visual effects systems, pipeline workflow, render farm operation and management, as well as assisting the creative end user. Also a large focus of this position is being able to think outside the box to enable the Marcom Video team to work in new innovative ways. Responsibilities: Coordination, planning, administration and management of high-performance VFX-specific infrastructure systems in an enterprise datacenter Troubleshooting application and OS issues, networking problems, and systems issues. Manage Deadline render farm configuration and help artists troubleshoot failed jobs. Expertise handling and troubleshooting 3D assets, their geometry, rigs, textures, shaders and associated metadata within a VFX pipeline and various AR/VR platforms Participate in architectural planning discussions to ensure a consistent technology roadmap.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with Linux, Unix, CoreOS, macOS, iOS, Windows, etc.
- Experience with Maya, C4D, Houdini, Nuke, and Adobe CC applications
- Experience with distributed rendering solutions such as AWS Thinkbox Deadline
- Professional experience in a Systems/IT support position, ideally in a visual effects / editing / VR studio environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of rendering tools including VRay, Mantra, Arnold, and Deadline
- Experience with Xsan/Stornext SAN environments
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and thrive working in dynamic environment
- You have a working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP) and the ability to troubleshoot networking issues
- Broad experience supporting and maintaining common Linux/Unix applications and
- services, as well as a good understanding of DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, AutoFS, Kerberos, PAM, PXE, SNMP, SSH, VNC, X11, HTTP/S, and NTP
- You're great at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, even when the pressure is on.
- Broadcast video experience using equipment like AJA/Blackmagic cards, cabling and termination, monitor calibration using SpectraCal Calman.
- Familiar with installation and management of license servers like RLM, FLEXlm, and HASP.
- Deployment and management of systems such as Ansible, Puppet, and JAMF
- Advanced networking knowledge including Fiber channel, SDI and time sensitive networking
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $168,200 and $280,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
