Description
You'll become part of an exceptional team focusing on privacy across Apple's products and services. Partnering with Privacy Engineers and Legal partners, you'll be working with a wide variety of teams. Your influence will be felt throughout Apple's products and services, such as the iPhone, Mac, Watch, Health, Siri, iCloud, and Apple Music. You will be directly involved in building great features with strong privacy protections for multiple products and services. You will analyze analytics requests, schemas, and user studies against established privacy guidance and policies. You will identify and effectively communicate (both written and verbal) privacy risk as well as suggest mitigations and privacy techniques to minimize data collected. Additionally, you will contribute to policy guidance and drive efficiency in our processes. This position requires someone with strong technical strengths and a passionate desire to protect people's privacy by providing insightful analysis of the privacy risks of data collection, and proposing mitigations to reduce or eliminate those risks while still shipping great products. A few responsibilities: * Analyze requests to collect, store, and use people's data against established guidance and policies, including reviews of data schema, architecture, sandboxes, and user studies * Identify and communicate privacy risk to privacy engineers, legal, and leadership with your recommendations * Apply privacy principles and advocate for privacy-preserving methods while communicating with internal stakeholders * Partner with Privacy Engineering and Legal to develop domain-specific criteria for reviewing requests * Write and follow clear documentation so that our work can be accountable, repeated, predictable, measured, and improved * Identify gaps and drive improvements to Apple's privacy policies and processes * Work with affiliated engineering teams to test and improve tooling used for data collection across the company
Minimum Qualifications
- Passion for privacy
- Familiarity with and experience in applying privacy-preserving techniques
- Knowledge of theories of privacy, privacy frameworks, and common privacy mitigation techniques
- Experience evaluating privacy or security risks against established criteria or threat models
- Familiarity with client-server architecture and common privacy risks and threat models
Preferred Qualifications
- Capacity to digest and analyze technical information to identify gaps and provide recommendations
- Ability to explain complex problems in a concise and objective manner
- Good organization and time management skills to track multiple tasks and projects and drive them to completion
- Talent for technical writing and an eye for process improvement
- Familiarity with the principles and use of cryptographic primitives and protocols
- Superb interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships across organizations
- BS in computer science, engineering or related technical experience
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $92,500 and $178,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
