Description
The FEA Engineer will own and drive analysis of innovative designs, enabling early optimization prior to prototyping as well as root cause and failure analysis of difficult mechanical problems. Generate finite element models/analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies Perform static, dynamic, structural, and thermal-mechanical analysis Own and drive material characterization and testing to support modeling efforts Build innovative methods for analyzing behavior of difficult to observe and measure phenomenon Own, drive, and complete consistent methods of modeling and analysis of modules across programs Coordinate and work with other analysts to integrate module models into larger system assemblies Communicate and report analysis results to team as well as multi-functional peers and management Drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments Brainstorm and propose solutions to problems based on analysis data

Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- You will have experience in advanced finite element analysis (FEA), preferably in high volume consumer electronic products. Direct experience with sensor technologies is a plus.
- Proficient in Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL, or other FEA tool (Abaqus preferred)
- Structural and thermal-mechanical analysis focus; non-linear FEA/FEM experience desirable. Additional analysis may include, but not limited to, heat transfer, electromagnetics, electrostatics, CFD, acoustics, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and biomechanics
- Applied knowledge/experience with material testing and modeling involving complex nonlinear materials such as soft adhesives, elastomers, and polymers
- Proficient in Matlab and Python scripting
- Experience in data and statistical analysis (Monte Carlo, DOE, statistical process control) is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact and collaborate with management, team members and external vendors to achieve project goals, and give positively to the engineering community
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
