In this role, the candidate will work within the Mac Hardware organization, specifically in the SerDes I/O validation for Mac Platforms. Their responsibilities will include setting up and executing I/O Compliance flow bringups for Mac platforms, testing Mac platforms to stress-test I/Os in systems, and collecting metrics. Additionally, they will develop a factory-level eye-scan test flow for high-volume data collection to optimize IO design margins. The candidate will also be involved in high-speed validation and electrical compliance testing of I/Os for form-factor systems. Description
In this role you will: Execute high-speed serial I/O electrical compliance tests Organize compliance data reports for comparison against specs and approval by certification orgs Troubleshoot and triage issues with compliance test hardware, fixtures, software, and the DUT (Device Under Test) Failure analysis feedback for iterative HW design/SW Tunable improvements Define and develop methods for stress testing to identify design operating limits of Serial IOs post system integration Validation of high-speed fixtures, connectors, cables, and Mac IOs Develop python based scripts to speed up automation and data collection
Minimum Qualifications
- M.S Degree with 2~3 years relevant work experience
- Familiarity with all aspects of Signal Integrity for high speed SerDes, parallel bus, single ended signaling
- Ability to execute on channel analysis with Signal integrity EDA
- Measurement expertise with frequency and time domain tools (VNA, TDR) including calibration methods
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. Degree with 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Deep knowledge of system-level Serdes design and analysis skills is required. This includes understanding of transmitter and receiver equalization methods (such as FFE, CTLE, DFE, VGA gain), CDR behaviors and modeling, link training algorithms, and eye margining tools.
- Serial bus expertise includes knowledge of the specifications of PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, and Thunderbolt. SI skills required include DOE analysis across channel variants, applying equalization and training as necessary for end-to-end channel analysis.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, the ability to work independently, a desire to mentor, and demonstrated innovation are essential.
- The ability to multitask and drive multiple issues to closure is also necessary.
- Familiarity with DP and USB4/TBT specifications as well as Matlab are a plus.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
