Apple Data Platform powers analytics and ML engineering for Siri, Search, and other ML features we all love in our Apple products. The mission of the Data Platform org is to provide our ML engineers and data users a secured, reliable, and easy-to-use infrastructure for ingesting, storing, processing, and interacting with data and ultimately enable teams across Apple on building their data-intensive and AI/ML applications. You will work with many cross-functional teams and lead the strategy of technical projects with the ultimate purpose of improving cost and platform efficiency for Apple Data Platform. We are looking for engineering leaders who are passionate about finding insights and opportunities on optimizing platform performance and efficiency with methodical data-oriented approach.

Description

In this role, you will lead the platform efficiency initiatives for Apple Data Platform. Your responsibilities will include analyzing the performance and efficiency of various data services, identifying key observability metrics, and automating dashboards to assess networking topologies across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. As part of the Apple Data Platform team, you will collaborate with leaders across Apple and present insights that drive strategic decisions with leadership impact. Responsibilities include: - Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise-grade network infrastructure, encompassing LAN, WAN, and cloud environments. - Diagnose and resolve network issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance. - Implement and oversee network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems. - Continuously monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning to align with business growth. - Develop automation solutions for network operations using scripting languages like Python and Bash. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business and cloud networking requirements. - Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures. - Keep abreast of emerging networking technologies and industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in networking within hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • More than 6 years of expertise in the big data domain, with strong proficiency in data platform technologies, performance optimization, cost reduction, and platform efficiency strategies.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to effectively collect, analyze, forecast, and translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proven track record of influencing and driving platform efficiency initiatives across diverse stakeholders.
  • Deep passion for operational excellence through automation and data engineering best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, thriving in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in VPC PrivateLink, ML Infrastructure, egress management, proxy solutions, cross-region networking in public cloud, and secure data movement between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes and network security protocols is a big plus

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
