The applications data science team is looking for an experienced staff-level data scientist who can build machine learning modeling capabilities as well as lead the development of impactful data products and insights. We support user growth of subscription services, product and feature development, content expansion, and optimization. We cover a wide area of the data spectrum including statistical modeling, causal inference, machine learning, and product analytics.

Description

As a staff data scientist, you will be responsible for building models, providing insights, evaluating product launches, finding opportunities for future development, and many more. You will partner with engineers, the product team, business leaders, designers, and other teams to bring better experiences to our users and grow the business. Is this you? If yes, please apply! Engage with business teams to see opportunities, understand requirements, and translate those requirements into technical solutions. Manage large, sophisticated projects from conception to completion, identify risks and develop frameworks, evaluate impact, and regularly connect with collaborators and the leadership team. Develop, validate, and maintain advanced behavior, demographic, behavioral-based predictive models, tools, and other capabilities. Collaborate with data engineers to implement robust production decision pipelines. Collaborate with different teams to formulate innovative solutions to test and implement sophisticated data mining techniques. Measure the impact of growth initiatives for subscription businesses by improving user acquisition, conversion, and retention. Collaborate and influence other data scientist peers on modeling framework and statistical methods to uncover insights from large-scale data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years at the staff level as a data scientist with experience leading the development of data products and insights, as well as building machine learning modeling capabilities.
  • 6+ years of overall industry experience in the areas of data science, statistics, and/or modeling to support user growth of subscription services, product, and feature development.
  • Practical experience and theoretical understanding of advanced quantitative methods, statistical & machine learning model development, including regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, time-series analysis, deep learning, etc.
  • Excellent presentation skills, distilling sophisticated analysis and concepts into concise business-focused takeaways.
  • Strong skills in managing priorities and collaborating with diverse groups of collaborators, including engineering, product, business, design, etc.
  • Ability to extract product insights from data and identify the stories behind the patterns.
  • Familiarity with data tools like Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in the fields of Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, CS, Predictive Analytics, or similar academic areas, or the equivalent industry experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in the fields of Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, CS, Predictive Analytics, or similar academic areas.
  • We prefer a strong product sense and a passion for user experience.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $293,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
