Description

The AI and Data Platforms team is responsible for building and managing data platforms at scale on the Cloud that help Apple process, store, and access petabytes of data. We're looking for a Software Engineer with a strong understanding of data and ML platforms, passionate about building large scale distributed data systems, and who can demonstrate to Apple's high standards. As a part of our team, you'll be responsible for building and integrating various compute and storage platforms using open source or other solutions to aid various critical applications, such as analytic, reporting, and AI/ML apps. Additionally, you will be working with open source to optimize performance and cost, locating production errors and issues to bring forward the best data platform experience. You are able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams. You will interact with many other teams to lead and deliver best-in-class products in an exciting, fast-paced environment. Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of programming experience in Java or Scala or Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent
  • Experience building reusable frameworks, libraries, or components
  • Experience with distributed computing
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices and standard methodologies for the full software development lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Spark, Flink, or other distributed computing frameworks
  • Experience with SQL query engines like Trino, Hive, etc.
  • Understanding of Apache Iceberg, Hudi, or Delta
  • Experience with debugging issues on distributed systems
  • Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing is a plus.
  • Understanding of the AI/ML stack - GPUs, MLFlow, LLM models is a plus.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
