We are seeking an experienced software engineer with a background in operating systems internals and large scale software development. This is a technical, hands-on role, in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The successful candidate will work within our cybersecurity software engineering team developing technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible in industry.

Description

Apple is seeking an extraordinary individual to work on a team supporting and developing platform services which underpin mission critical information security capabilities. The ideal candidate is deeply technical, hands-on, and has enough experience with OSS software to understand when and how to contribute as needed. While previous experience in information security is not required, a sincere drive for security and privacy is required. This role will work closely with our engineering teams and with partner teams to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of product objectives. The successful candidate will have a passion for technical excellence and team collaboration with a heavy focus on automation, scalability, and reliability for all layers of the stack. This role will work closely with developers and users of our platforms to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of product objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of operating system internals
  • Extensive knowledge of modern CPU design, hardware platforms, and computer architecture
  • Previous experience in kernel/firmware/driver development, ideally on a UNIX-like kernel
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of C and Assembly, ideally ARM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience with ARM architecture
  • Strong debugging skills in kernel context
  • Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency/synchronization, memory allocation, file systems) and profiling or equivalent experience with Darwin and MacOS
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS or GCP), and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with Rust, C/C++, golang, Swift, Objective-C, or Scala
  • Proficiency with Relational Databases and SQL
  • Proficiency with Apache Spark and Structured Streaming internals
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
