Apple seeks a people-focused leader with a deep understanding of the Apple Developer community to lead our Developer Evangelism team. Apple's Design and Technology Evangelists inspire and help developers create innovative, intuitive, beautiful, platform-native apps and games through design and technical videos, in-person and online events, workshops, and one-on-one consultations. As part of Apple's Worldwide Developer Relations team, Evangelism help to plan and deliver WWDC and Developer Center events by leading the presentation production process, coaching speakers, giving detailed slide design feedback, and managing and staffing design and technology labs. Evangelism drives the Apple Design Awards, briefs and supports developers for 3rd-party Keynote demos, produces and publishes the Apple Design Resources, helps design and write the Human Interface Guidelines, designs and builds the Apple Developer app, and works closely with developers making cutting-edge experiences for new hardware like Apple Vision Pro, and more.

The Senior Director, Evangelism will lead a team of app development and design experts with specialties including app frameworks, coding languages and developer tools, graphics and games, machine learning and AI, hardware accessory technologies, and more. You set the tone for your team and bring a creative and thoughtful approach to developer outreach and connection through a mix of small and large-scale activities. We seek an experienced manager, coach, and mentor able to facilitate collaboration and ideation, resolve conflict, provide clear direction, and build and maintain a strong team and positive work environment. Candidates must have deep experience influencing executive leadership, bring fresh and smart ideas about how to scale developer outreach, and have a track record of successfully delivering complex and high visibility projects. You are thoughtful, empathetic, and enjoy helping developers bring their next big idea to life. You can collaborate successfully with colleagues in Worldwide Developer Relations, Software and Hardware Engineering, Design, Product Marketing, Marcom, Events, and outside vendors to develop and deliver outstanding developer content and events. You will also be responsible for: -Influencing and implementing overall strategic direction -Translating strategy into actionable tasks that have measurable impact -Bringing deep technical expertise to inspire developers to deliver good will and great apps -Supervising managers to ensure projects stay on schedule, fulfill objectives, and deliver impact -Coordinating team activity with global cross-functional partners -Assuring leadership receives regular status updates, is engaged in the planning process, and hears of noteworthy successes -Developing proposals for improving the Apple developer experience that are innovative, attainable, timely, strongly supported, and persuasively presented The Evangelism team primarily supports US-based developers while also working closely with worldwide colleagues to coordinate global outreach and engagement.
- 15+ years experience leading an app design, development, developer relations and/or equivalent technical team
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to help functionally and geographically diverse teams collaborate successfully
- Deeply informed about technology including Apple products, platform capabilities and conventions, frameworks, technologies, and our 3rd-party ecosystem
- Knowledgable about modern software design and development concepts, processes and best-practices
- Hands on experience as a Software Engineer and/or Product Designer
- Superb attention-to-detail yet equally capable of identifying and acting upon broader themes and long-term patterns
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional presentations to internal and external audiences
- Excellent creative problem-solving skills, adaptable, flexible and resourceful as you manage product changes, shifting schedules, aggressive timelines, regulatory changes, operational challenges, etc.
- Available for both domestic and international travel
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $349,000 and $558,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
