Description
We are looking for a creative prototyping engineer with excellent practical knowledge of deep learning, ML tools and architectures, and multi-modal sensing applied to physical spaces. The successful candidate will have experience with sensing architectures, acquisition and fusion of multimodal signals in particular using state-of-the-art AI technologies applicable to mobile, wearable, and robotic systems. A design-centric prototyping mindset, and the ability to rapidly adjust to changes in investigation directions based on insights acquired from experimental data, are essential advantages. The candidate needs to be able to clearly articulate what motivates a particular approach, and its pros and cons as well as risks.

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience in AIML and a Ph. D./M.Sc.) in AI/ML, Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Strong background in Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and multimodal sensor fusion, using generative AI principles and architectures
- Comfortable with using state-of-the-art Transformers, and Spiking networks (SNNs)
- Experience developing data-driven, deep learning solutions for multimodal perception problems
- Strong Python programming skills, with proficiency in ML tools/frameworks such as PyTorch
- Self-motivated, creative innovator with a passion for exploring new technologies
- Ability to adopt or implement established methodologies and apply statistical analysis in problem-solving
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with asynchronous sensing systems
- Experience with near-sensor computation
- Understanding of physical characteristics of imaging and sensing systems
- Knowledge of robot operating system (ROS) suite, and familiarity with robot-specific sensing and interaction problem space
- Experienced in an iterative prototyping environment
- Thrives in a multi-functional work environment and is effective communicating across different teams
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
