Apple is currently seeking a hard-working mechanical engineer to join the team. This role will provide support to design, engineering, prototyping and validation activities for new technologies. Day-to-day responsibilities include mechanical design and analysis, 3D modeling, coordinating with external vendors to produce parts and assemblies, and conducting thorough testing and validation to ensure product quality and performance.

Description
• Working with project leads to resolve design requirements and brainstorm solutions to mechanical engineering problems • Refining concepts into polished designs by working with internal and external fabrication resources • Develop clear test/assembly plans, perform failure analysis and iterate on designs as needed • Present designs and results to the cross-functional team during design reviews Work with electrical/optical engineers to integrate optomechanical components and PCBs/ICs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in mechanical product design (preferably opto-mechanical parts/assemblies)
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD [NX preferred]
- Experience performing FEA modeling (structural/thermal) for design validation
- Experience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs
- Experience owning parts at various production stages (proof of concept, prototype, etc.) and engaging with vendors to yield successful parts/assemblies
- Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, mechanical drawing composition (functional dimensioning and tolerance stack-up analysis)
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and statistical tolerance analysis techniques
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills, spatial reasoning and excellent technical communication
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,900 and $183,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
