The Marcom Packaging Research & Development team leads and participates in the development of projects for print related raw materials and print technology that supports the Packaging graphic design vision. The role of a technical print expert requires someone who will lead and participate in projects that involve developing print processes and solutions to improve the current print technologies, post-print graphic treatment quality, and technology and sustainability for Packaging components.

Description

The Marcom Packaging Research & Development Senior Print Expert leads projects from initiatives to raw material or print technology qualification. Responsibilities include: Partners with cross-functional teams, Packaging material team, Creative Designers, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Purchasing, Technical Project Manager and Packaging partners and suppliers. The role will expand to support the hiring manager supervising a team of senior print experts and project managers. Inventive and enthusiastic, a problem solver, at ease with being part of a growing organization. You dream of working in a creative environment, learn quickly, and you can accommodate rapid change.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of packaging and labeling experience
  • Experience with printing processes, with an emphasis on fiber base materials.
  • Experience solving print related issues as well as experience with various inks, coating, adhesives, print decoration (cold foil) and finishing.
  • Hands on experience with packaging and label manufacturing process control and quality systems.
  • Experience applying new raw materials to final print applications.
  • Statistical and data analysis tools experience, such as Jump Pro.
  • You are available for both domestic and international travel (at least 15 percent of time).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in consumer electronic or consumer goods packaging and labeling.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and you handle ambiguity with grace. You are comfortable and confident to present to the Senior leadership team on a regular basis and able to at craft creative and informative keynote slides.
  • You have good understanding of color management and global industry color management and print standard. ISO 12647, 15339 and GRACoL2013 color methods.
  • You love Apple and care deeply about Packaging graphics. You have an appreciation for quality, can communicate clearly, and have patience for the process-both engineering and design.
  • You are proficient in Mac applications; database management systems; Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat; and the Microsoft Office suite. Good knowledge of using Jump for data analysis.
  • Experience in a leading role supervising or coaching individual contributors.
  • You have deep industry connections and stay involved with suppliers printing and finishing capabilities.
  • Stays on top of Packaging Innovation as it relates to these techniques on various substrates.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging and Print, preferred.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $179,000 and $269,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
