Description

This is an individual contributor role. As a Linux System Administrator in Apple's Fleet Operations and Engineering team, your key responsibilities will include: Manage and maintain Apple's big fleet of data systems running on Linux. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, collaborate with teams, analyze logs/metrics to identify root causes. Provide effective technical support to ensure high customer satisfaction. Improve processes, enhance reliability/security, develop documentation.
  • 5+ Years experience in Linux/UNIX systems administration.
  • Database Systems and technologies awareness, such as Oracle DB, Mongo DB, Postgres DB, MySQL, etc.
  • Familiarity with NAS, SAN and Network troubleshooting.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and isolating Software and Hardware issues within a Linux environment.
  • Understanding of system security.
  • Good understanding of RAID.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience in IT.
  • Superb time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts based on business need is required. Work hours are variable as this is a 24/7, 365 days a year environment.
  • On-call support on weekend is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LPIC-1, RHCSA certification or higher
  • Linux/UNIX-related software/scripting development in one or more of the following: Python, Shell, Perl, Ruby
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Git, or other configuration management tools.
  • Experience with revision control systems like GitHub, CI/CD unit testing.
  • Experience with KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm is a plus.

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300 and $241,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
