Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maps Automation: Develop, implement, and optimize generative AI models to automate map creation, enhance spatial data accuracy, and enrich the map's visual and contextual quality in real time using multi-model data and crowdsourced input. User-Centric AI Features: Design and deploy AI-powered features that improve exploration, discovery, navigation, deliver personalized recommendations, and support accessibility for diverse users. Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with applied scientists, data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to integrate generative AI capabilities seamlessly into Apple Maps products and services. Scalability & Optimization: Create scalable AI solutions to handle global map data, ensuring reliability and consistency across various geographies and cultures. Responsible AI: Advocate for and implement ethical AI practices, ensuring fairness, transparency, and alignment to Apple's privacy principles in all generative AI applications. AI-Assisted Business Tools: Innovate tools for business owners to manage and optimize their presence on Apple Maps using AI insights and generative solutions. Emerging Technologies: Explore and apply state-of-the-art advancements in multi-model generative AI, deep learning, and natural language processing to create unique, future-ready mapping experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or equivalent field with 10+ years of applied AI research and product development experience
  • Proven experience in Generative AI/LLMs/Foundation Models with a proven track record of deploying solutions in production
  • Strong programming experience in one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python
  • Experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Strong collaboration driven track record of execution and delivery
  • Familiarity with privacy-preserving techniques, ethical AI practices and responsible AI deployment.
  • Deliver as a technical team lead; guiding a set of engineers and applied scientists
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex, large-scale challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with executive presence

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or equivalent field
  • Experience working with geospatial data, computer vision or natural language processing for real-world applications
  • Desire to tackle meaningful problems which lie at the intersection of user-experience, big data processing and computational algorithms
  • Understanding of Apple's ecosystem and services is a plus
  • Alignment with Apple's philosophy of privacy and data security

Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
