The Instructional Products (IP) content team is responsible for instructional materials - user guides, help systems, tips, and more. IP is passionate about answering product questions quickly and accurately, and helping people discover what's possible with their Apple products. In this role, you'll lead the instructional design team that creates user education solutions for audio and video products, and other exciting Apple areas. We are looking for a strong, innovative leader with a proven ability to drive cross-functional experiences in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Apple's Instructional Products team is seeking an Instructional Design Manager to lead the team that creates customer-facing educational materials for audio, video, and other product areas. - Manage a team of instructional designers: assign projects, review written content, monitor workloads and resources, conduct regular staff meetings, provide ongoing feedback, write and deliver performance reviews, and so on. - Collaborate with other managers to coordinate product strategies and department-wide initiatives. - Oversee various product lines, ensuring that your team's deliverables are high quality and on time. - Provide leadership and vision to continually explore ground-breaking and effective education solutions. - Work closely with product teams - including marketing, engineering, program management, and localization - to evaluate our user guides and advocate for innovative customer-focused instructional materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to edit and review content, and help writers hone their craft.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster close collaboration between teams internal and external to IP.
- Passion for user experience and technology.
- Firm grasp of instructional design principles and methodologies.
- 3+ years of experience in instructional design, information design, product documentation, online publishing, technical writing, user experience design, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with software engineers, UX and graphic designers, and project managers.
- Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting aggressive timelines.
- Knowledge of music creation software or post-production photography or video software; iOS or macOS development; design methodology; QA; usability testing; program management; knowledge of web-based content-delivery mechanisms and underlying technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- BA or BS in Instructional Technologies, Information Design, Journalism, Communications, Computer Science, User Experience Design, or related field.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $173,100 and $301,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
