Description
This is a full-time on-site process development position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing epitaxy processes in a semiconductor wafer research facility. The person will ensure that experiments are implemented according to plan and that data are properly collected and analyzed. The person will participate in interpreting data in order to determine next steps towards a process that delivers the required device performance, process throughput, and process yield. The process engineer has substantial day-to-day responsibilities in the process development laboratory. They are responsible for monitoring process and characterizing equipment performance, resolving issues, and developing new process capabilities. They will generate and implement daily work instructions, and participate in training and coaching. They will maintain standard operating procedures and traceability. The process engineer will be required to work with technicians, operators, equipment engineers, and other process engineers on a daily basis, and will be required to work with multi-functional development teams, including integration engineers within wafer fab, device & testing engineers, and product engineers.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Applied Physics
- 3+ years of epitaxy of compound semiconductor device experience
- 3+ years of experience with characterization of epitaxy wafers by SIMS, AFM, TEM, or XRD
- Proficiency with data analysis tools and principles of statistically designed experimentation (JMP, Matlab, Excel, Stat-Ease, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering,Materials Science, or Applied Physics
- 5+ years of experience with MOCVD of lasers, LEDs, or photodetectors
- Broad knowledge of material and device characterization methods (ECV, SIMS, XRD, PL, Hall effect, on-wafer and packaged electro-optical testing, etc.)
- Demonstrated capability in device physics
- Experience with querying databases with Python
- Excellent critical analysis, statistical analysis, and reasoning skills
- Ability to work independently and in teams
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
