Description
We seek an engineering manager to lead a team of data engineers that builds App Store analytical products used by Business analytics, AI/ML & developer partners. Under your leadership, the team will implement and maintain efficient data pipelines that process petabytes of App Store data to timely and accurate deliver analytics to app developers. In addition to foundational metrics, your team will build advanced analytical capabilities that help Apple product and business gain deep insights and optimize the performance of their apps. While focusing on the data engineering aspect, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to collect the data from internal systems and Apple devices in a privacy-friendly way. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Drive technical vision, strategy, and implementation of App Store analytical products with a focus on governance, privacy and compliance. - Build internal federated tools, processes and engineering solutions for App Store to help manage privacy requirements. - Establish processes to ensure engineering excellence, high quality, reliability, and efficiency of analytical products. - Lead a team of data engineers: hire, mentor, and manage performance. - Review technical designs and code created by the team. - Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional leaders in engineering, product, and operations to design data collection, user interface, API, and reporting capabilities. - Participate in privacy reviews to ensure that data collection and reporting satisfies strict privacy guidelines and legal requirements. - Foster a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in big-data field: HDFS, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Scala or Java, SQL, batch & streaming.
- 3+ years of experience in building data engineering solution that ensures compliance with relevant data protection laws and industry regulations
- 5+ years of experience in engineering management: building and growing high-performing teams.
- Experience in privacy or cybersecurity engineering
- Proven track record designing, launching, and scaling production quality data pipelines.
- Experience with mission-critical and high-performance distributed systems.
- Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
- Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science, statistics, similar quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with any of the following: Snowflake, Druid, Clickhouse, Trino (Presto), Cassandra.
- Experience with cloud: AWS, S3, EMR
- Previous work experience in designing and building external analytics products at a global scale.
- Familiarity with advanced analytics concepts including statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
- Passion for building privacy-friendly analytical products.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
