Description
The leader in this role is responsible for driving the overall strategy and execution of our Lakehouse Platform. This includes driving the continuous enhancements of the lakehouse architecture to ensure high satisfaction of our internal platform users. This role will lead and mentor a large team of engineering and data science professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities, and cultivating a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team. The ideal candidate for this role will also demonstrate strong collaboration skills, partnering with stakeholders on defining SLAs, KPIs and usage guidelines to deliver a highly available and reliable platform. You'll be responsible for building and leveraging cutting edge open source technologies to meet the diverse data management needs of many teams within Apple. This leader will have a strong track record in managing organizational budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for projects and initiatives. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies for data management is also required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 15+ years of software development experience, with 10+ years engineering team management experience
- 5+ years of experience building and operationalizing data platform technologies like Spark, Flink, Hive, Iceberg
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related field of study
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with program managers and engineering partners
- Experience in influencing and driving key product innovations and opportunities across diverse stakeholders
- Experience with open source development
- Experience with Kubernetes, security, and data privacy
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $293,300 and $468,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
