In this position, you will work with teams developing innovative products used by millions of people. Your role on the team involves implementing the advanced DC-DC power design for Apple's next generation Mac platforms covering desktop designs, portable computers, and other future Mac products.

Description

As a DC-DC power system designer, you will be driving innovative power circuit designs and system level partitioning from concept investigation and design through successful product level implementation. - Work with system and power architects on CPU/GPU computer system architecture investigations using single-phase and multi-phase dc-dc voltage regulators. - Apply technical rigor to analyze design tradeoffs including system performance, power consumption & efficiency, physical size, cost, carbon footprint and scalability. - Own power circuit schematic and BOM. Work with PCB layout team. - Develop new components with integrated circuit, capacitor and inductor vendors. - Validate prototypes and perform competitive bench marking through lab testing. - Provide technical support for production issues debug and resolutions. - Conduct DC-DC power seminars and training for multi-functional teams. - Provide technical leadership and mentor junior DCDC engineers. - Spearhead innovation via exemplary behavior and collaboration.

  • Electrical / Computer engineering degree with >5 years of relevant work experience, e.g. in consumer electronics or semiconductor companies.
  • Understanding of single- and multi- phase DC-DC regulators, control loops, operating modes, thermals, efficiency, passive components and power delivery network.
  • Ability to predict performance using circuit simulators, e.g. Spice and Simplis, optimize schematic and PCB layout, validate performance by lab measurements.
  • Occasionally travel in the US and overseas to provide factory or vendor support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly motivated, self-starter, able to work well with multi-functional teams in dynamic work environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to guide critical investigations and decisions.
  • Experience with multi-channel power management integrated circuits.
  • Background in analog, digital or power integrated circuit design.
  • Track record of innovations, e.g. patents or publications.
  • Code development skills, e.g. Python, Matlab, Math-Cad.
  • Experience with digital hardware design such as microcontrollers and digital interfaces (such as I2C, SPI, SPMI, etc)
