Our Robustness and Safety AI (RSAI) team strives to apply cutting edge Machine learning in innovative and impactful ways to ensure ML technologies can be safely deployed to the real world. We are part of the System Intelligent and Machine Learning (SIML) group that provides foundational machine learning technologies and OS-layer software support for AI safety. Our work serves the safety foundation for many Apple Intelligence experiences (Writing Tools, Image Playground, Genmoji, Image Wand, Apple Intelligence in Photos, etc). We are looking for a skilled and motivated software engineer to join us to shape the future of system software for AI safety. The primary responsibilities associated with this position range from algorithm design and software implementation, ability to integrate research into production frameworks, and collaborating closely with product teams before and after feature launch. You will work closely with a group of experts to architect and deliver solutions that will have a huge impact across our platforms! Description
As a software engineer in this role, you will be responsible for contributing to design and architecture, prototyping and developing software related to AI safety, profiling and optimizing performance, implementing tools & testing. We're looking for a teammate with proven success in delivering technologies. You will be a critical part of a diverse team, and will thrive in a high energy, time constrained, multitasking environment!
Minimum Qualifications
- Software development experience in one of the following: C++, Swift
- A deep understanding of multithreaded programming
- Strong analytical, programming and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Upbeat, adaptable, and results oriented with a positive attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with software configuration management processes such as unit tests, code reviews and working with continuous integration
- Experience with macOS and/or iOS development, and familiarity with UNIX-based systems
- Experience with image/video coding and processing systems (e.g., video codecs, formats, containers, etc.)
- Proven track record to design and implement solutions using modern architectural concepts and processes
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
