The Core Bring-up team within Apple's Core OS organization is looking for a talented and inspired manager to lead the Software team that understands the Hardware. The team is responsible for all phases of Software delivery from silicon conception until ramp to mass production to support a range of hardware platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Macs, AppleWatch, and AppleTV. The Core Bring-up team works with the SoC design team to help define features of new silicon, be responsible for the SecureROM and secure boot architecture and delivery as well as bring-up of all new ARM-based silicon and the development of new technologies. The team reviews the design and bring-up of all new Apple hardware (iPhone/iPad/Macs/AppleWatch/AppleTV, and more), delivers platform device drivers, and helps debug and solve problems from prototype to production. This is a highly multi-functional and visible role, and the team is directly involved in decisions that affect every future Apple device. The position requires a very technical and hands-on leader, experience in working closely with silicon and hardware teams, and a deep understanding of bare metal software. You are a highly self-motivated individual who creates a dynamic and creative team environment in which problems are solved in new and innovative ways.

- Leadership and management of a team of talented system software engineers in a fast-paced and demanding software development environment - Ownership of silicon platform and products throughout the lifecycle from pre-silicon to mass production - Working closely with the hardware and silicon teams to bring-up new silicon, platforms, products, and prototype systems - Defining the system software roadmap to support a range of hardware platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Macs, AppleWatch, and AppleTV. - Strong communication skills to communicate status and progress clearly to upper management and cross-functional partners - Lead the team's assistance in requirements for future hardware and custom silicon - Strengthening the team by hiring and retaining top engineering talent
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience managing a low - level system software development team. Strong technical leadership and ability to inspire team members
- Direct experience in boot loader development, device driver development, kernel, and firmware software technologies.
- Understanding of SoC level design
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Genuine passion for system engineering, hardware/software integration, and obsession over delightful customer experience with products
- Excellent collaborative skills including written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of embedded hardware and SoC architecture
- Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals
- Experience with ARM based SoC's
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
