We are the Apple Field Design Engineering team, and we are looking for a highly motivated Cellular Field Design Engineer responsible for conducting Field evaluations of Apple products, from early prototypes to final products, to deliver the best Cellular end-user experience. You will perform deep-dive analysis into internal logs to understand and identify issue root causes and drive them to closure by collaborating closely with wireless HW/SW test and development teams.

Description
Come join our team as a Cellular Field Design Engineer, where you will evaluate the latest iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch Cellular systems in the field! This includes very early evaluations of our Prototypes and HW Systems on Cellular technologies. It also includes focused experiments related to RF/OTA performance and Wireless Baseband performance and conducting end-user-centric studies to characterize real-world cellular experience. Responsibilities Include: - Cellular Field validation of Apple Products on live networks for critical technologies like 3G, 4G, NR (SA/NSA) - Conduct testing on key cellular functionality, Voice, Data throughput, and User Experience. - Conduct focused field studies to evaluate Antenna/RF performance in near cell, mixed and marginal coverage environments. - Analyze voice and data call issues across different layers of Cellular protocol stack like Phy, Mac, RLC, PDCP, RRC, NAS, and TCP layers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Field or three years of equivalent practical experience
- Basic knowledge of Cellular Systems (Examples: Cellular Architecture, 4G and 5G systems, Digital Communications)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
- Understanding of Wireless RF fundamentals
- Experience with Cellular field validation across 3G, 4G, and 5G systems.
- Experience with end to end testing, post-processing and analysis of LTE and NR communications system issues
- Log analysis of Voice and Data Call issues, including understanding various layers of the wireless protocol stack, like Phy, MAC, RLC, PDCP, etc.
- Performing comprehensive technical reviews of new cellular features and disseminating them to the field engineering organization.
- Great communication skills and ability to collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams and partners
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $117,800 and $205,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
